The Ambassador of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Levan Beridze met with Ms. Dora Bakoyannis at the Hellenic Parliament
On May 7, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic, Levan Beridze, met with the Head the Parliamentary Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Ms. Theodora (Dora) Bakoyannis.
The parties discussed existing strong cooperation between Georgia and Greece, as well as the priorities for further strengthening the ties between the two countries.
The discussion also focused on deepening collaboration between parliaments of the two countries, including scheduling high level parliamentary delegations, bilateral meetings between the speakers of the parliaments and the chairmen of the foreign affairs committees. Promoting active communication between friendship groups of the parliaments of the two countries were also touched upon.
During the meeting strategic role of Georgia in the region and the Black Sea and regional security issues were another important topic raised, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation between state institutions in the transportation and defence sectors.
The need to reinforce the partnership between the EU and Georgia, as well as the economic and political situation in Georgia were thoroughly discussed, including the country’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Hellenic Republic for its continuous support and expressed his genuine belief that the Greek side will further stand by the Georgia’s initiatives within EU, UN and at other international platforms.
