The Ambassador of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Levan Beridze, participated in the international conference, held in the town of Patras

     On June 6, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Levan Beridze, participated in the international conference, held in the town of Patras, on the following topic : “The Role of Academic Institutions in the Protection of Children's Rights”. The conference was organized by UNICEF Greece and the State University of Patras.
 
     During the conference, the Ambassador of Georgia addressed the audience and talked about the important steps undertaken by the government of Georgia, in order to ensure that children's rights are respected. He emphasized that the key priority for both, executive and legislative authorities is the protection of the children’s rights. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of raising awareness in the society on children’s rights through the educational institutions.
 
     In his speech, Georgian diplomat mentioned the Children’s Rights Protection Centres established in Georgia within the framework of the UNICEF’s pilot program and noted that the project was first implemented in Georgia and later well developed in Greece. Nowadays, 11 centres in total are operating in different universities of Georgia.
 
     Representatives of four Georgian universities participated in the conference and shared their knowledge and best practices with those present on the protection of children's rights.
